What's New?
The draft Strategy will be discussed with the Beaverton Urban Redevelopment Agency (BURA) Board at the April 25th meeting (see meeting agenda).

Overview

The Western Avenue Employment Area (WAEA) is situated just east of Highway 217 and south of Beaverton Hillsdale Highway.  The area is centrally located within the region, with direct access to freight routes, Fanno Creek Trail, and Downtown Beaverton. More than 200 businesses are located within WAEA, providing approximately 3,500 jobs.

The city is leading an effort to develop a plan for this key employment area, which contains the largest block of industrial land in the city. See the project map.

Project Goals

    1. Create a vision and identity for the area
    2. Identify barriers, constraints, and conflicts that may be impediments to property improvements, redevelopment, and business development or expansion;
    3. Identify future economic trends and potential barriers to evolve with market directions;
    4. Identify infrastructure needs, including transportation, water, sewer, and stormwater; and
    5. Develop strategies to leverage public investments and enhance development readiness
